Alex Lawrence, Director

Alex is a serial entrepreneur who has been involved in venture capital, social media, lending, food service, and real estate. Alex founded Lawrence Capital, Elm Properties, and Twitjump, and is a partner at Lendio. Alex continues to contribute to the local community not only as a instructor at Weber State but as creator of startupflavor.com. He earned a BS in management from the University of Utah and an MBA from Weber State University.

Jeff Jackson, Portfolio Manager, Associate Director

Jeff has worked as Director of Operations at Mangia in addition to starting his own ecommerce site doghouseoutdoors.com and serving as a consultant on numerous deals.   He served in the US military for 7 years both stateside and overseas.  His education includes a BS from West Point (Chemistry, Mech Engineering minor) and a MBA from Emory (Finance concentration).

Adam Kirschman, Analyst - Utah State University

Prior to joining USTAR, Adam earned an MBA and BS (Biology) from Utah State University. He has worked as a consultant for the Huntsman Cancer Foundation, a Marketing Associate for Utah State University, and in Campaign Development for the National Center on Shaken Baby Syndrome. Adam and his wife, Hillary, are the proud owners of three dogs and reside in Logan, UT.

Steve McKeon, Analyst - Department of Defense

Steve graduated from West Point in 2002 with a BS in Systems Engineering and a Russian Language Major.  Following graduation, Steve served as an Infantry Officer in the Army overseas in Germany and Afghanistan.  Steve has six years of experience in sales and project management specializing in Government Contracts.

Zac Peeler, Analyst - University of Utah

Zac earned a BS in Biochemistry from the University of Puget Sound and is currently pursuing an MBA and an MS in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Utah. He previously worked as an analyst for the professional drug-testing and gaseous emissions industries. Zac and his team won the inaugural Utah ACG Cup private equity case competition.
