Team OverviewThe age of onset for many psychiatric diseases, including schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, is during late adolescence or young adulthood. This team is using functional MRI and spectroscopy to develop early intervention treatments for psychiatric diseases and methamphetamine addiction. |

Promising Research Projects
- Functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), which correlates brain images with how well a person performs certain tasks, such as decision-making tests, while they are being scanned
- Using magnetic resonance spectroscopy to identify treatments for mood disorders in adolescents and methamphetamine dependence in adults
- Natural products to treat substance abuse, head injury and mood disorders
- Collaboration with the VA Hospital to better understand cognitive changes with Traumatic Brain Injury
